If you’ve been here before, you know that the rule is that the flow dictates the show. So this one starts off fun and funky with an infectious track but in short order turns into something drifting and just a little bit lazy. As Vonnegut said, so it goes.
The quest to clear out the older stuff in the Holding Tanks continues! (But only for a bit.) I’ve also got fresher stuff to offer–and watch out for that track with lyrics. Hey, it happens.
The unfortunate reality is that sometimes, artists hang out in the Holding Tanks for a good long while–too long, in fact–waiting for me to get around to putting them into an episode. So this time out my goal is to try to clear out some long-lingering music and give these folks their due. Quite a mix of styles here, including an excursion to the border of smooth jazz, and in the back half I’ll treat you to two long drifts.

This one’s kinda sorta not really got a theme. I won’t mention it here, so as not to spoil the oh-so-clever opening bit. (Were you around when oh-so-clever opening bits were much more of a thing here? Say hi in the comments if you were!) Away we go.
This time through, it’s just new music. I’m having some of the chairs in the library reupholstered and the place is a mess. We’ll stay in the main lounge. The beverage cart will be along shortly.

Settle in. I want to tell you a story….a mystery, really, about The Albums That Went Missing. Oh, it’ll mystify you and maybe bring a chill to your soul, but in the end it turns into 90 really good minutes of music. Ready to hear the tale?
Contrary to the well-known internet error message, you’ve found the latest episode of the Hypnagogue Podcast! For your efforts, I’ll reward you with 90 minutes of the best ambient, electronic, and contemporary instrumental music. It’s all Holding Tanks today, and a great mix of styles. Enjoy.
What do you do when you’ve reached 400 podcast episodes? Keep going, I guess! We’ll stick to the Holding Tanks this time through and for the most part keep things a bit on the down-low. (That’s what the cool kids say, right? Humor me.) Off you go.
Taking our leave of 2023, we do so in a manner most casual, stretching out, biding our time, meandering as one does, unrushed and–oh, who am I kidding? We’re getting lazy for the last show of the year, airing out some longer cuts that have been tucked into the Tracks to Play list for a while. Get comfy. This is a very deep non-stop ride. Thanks for coming along on the journey this year, whether you’re new around these parts or you’ve been here long enough to hear the hold music more than once. You are appreciated.
Get the children to safety in the bunker! There’s a theme show a’comin! Yeah, it’s that time again. Mr. Shanahan gets a “clever idea” and runs with it. (And yes, this is the one I talked about on 393…) Look at it this way: you get 20 tracks of musical goodness out of it! Enjoy!
