*Out of print, far as I can tell. Available through resellers. **Well, on my copy it says “Cassidy,” but on the Bandcamp page it’s changed to “Fae.” ***Did I forget to mention this track in my outro? Yes, because I’m not actually good at this. And then I was too lazy and out of shits to give, quite honestly, to go back, cut in the mention, and then re-upload the file. Ever see a “-1” at the end of a filename here? (Those of you who download.) Those are the episodes where Johnny realized he’d screwed something up after he already uploaded, then had to redo and re-up. This time, sorry, Chris, I just didn’t bother. Also, I couldn’t find a link for it.
Skimming through the tanks one day, a pair of old-school-ish tracks caught my ear, so I decided to start there. After that, a quiet mood took over and I knew it was not the time to barge in and get all chatty on you. So we float, we glide, and we bring things back around in due time.
What’s in this episode? Oh, lots of new stuff, along with some remasters and re-imaginings, a single with a story, an album with a story, and…can you hit a curveball? ‘Cuz I’m throwing one.
*To no one’s surprise, I pronounced it wrong. It’s тої, pronounced “toy-ee.” It’s a Ukranian word meaning “that one.” I hear some podcast hosts do something called “research.” Sounds exhausting.
Since this happens to be dropping on Thanksgiving, I’ll say I’m thankful that you’re here to listen and that all these wonderful artists are kind enough to send me music to share. We’ll start our turkey day festivities in the library (and yes, there’s one of those…) and then, like that weird uncle who invites himself over, get tanked for a while–but more enjoyably so.
This is very much one of the episodes where we follow the motto “the flow dictates the show.” Which is why it winds its uninterrupted way toward some darkness at the end. Maybe the slow onset of New England winter is getting to me already…
Seems like lately I’ve wanted to start shows by helping you get your groove on. I’m trying not to picture you twirling and spinning around the living room, but I must say I’d be glad if you were. You take it easy on the pelvic movements there, Elvis. This ain’t that kind of place. Fair warning: I do wax a little rhapsodic for a couple minutes about a meaningful-to-me album at the end. You know there’s a “stop” button, right?
From powerful sonic medicine to jet-fueled sequencer rides to dreamy flute-borne drifts, this one takes you from the tanks to the library, where we find something that’s been tucked away on a shelf for…well, you’ll see. Enjoy.
Bust out those dancin’ shoes because this one kicks off firmly in the funk space. We’ll all settle down a bit after that and glide into a pretty mellow ride. I must have been feeling contemplative or something.
I’ve got a bunch of piano tracks I need to hand out, and then we’ll explore some other spaces. Gets a bit droney for a while, but I’ll bring you back up by the end. No stops, just goodness. Enjoy.
